July 1th 2006 -- August 20th YOUNG ITALIAN ARTISTS AT THE TURN OF THE MILLENNIUM Galleria Continua,
Beijing The exhibition aims to give to the Chinese audience a view on the current Italian art scene showing the works of 26 artists, which are representatives of the decade 1990-2000. The selected works are already part of collections and they witness a varied artistic scene.
In occasion of the show a panel discussion concerning the relations between Italy and China will take place. Italian artists participating to the exhibition as well as Italian and Chinese curators that have been working for the last ten years will be invited. The show "Young Italian Artists at the turn of the millennium" aims to offer a view on the contemporary art in Italy of the last decade, when different generations of artists started to work.The show springs from the experience of the "Italian Studio Program" held at the PS1 New York from 1998 to 2004: each artist exhibited was invited to submit his work to the studio program.
The "Studio Program" represented a leading experience of supporting the Italian art, considering its peculiarities and features and the undertaking and continuity is the chief exemple on how to support young Italian art in an international outline.
